Canva Now Lives Inside Google Gemini
Canva just announced at Google I/O that its design tool now works inside Google Gemini. You're already using AI to write and brainstorm—why shouldn't you create actual designs in the same place? That's exactly what the company is banking on, and it's a smart move because most people don't want to jump between five different apps just to finish one project.
This is Canva's fourth major AI integration. They already ship with ChatGPT, Claude, and Microsoft Copilot. The company clearly saw the pattern: AI assistants are where people spend their time now, so you embed yourself there or you become irrelevant. Canva lets users generate on-brand designs, edit them in real time, and pull them straight into their work without leaving Gemini.
What makes this actually useful is the on-brand part. Canva knows your colors, fonts, and style, so when you ask Gemini to create a social post or presentation slide, it doesn't spit out something generic. It matches what you've already built. That's the bet here—not that AI design generation is new, but that doing it in context, where you're already writing and planning, changes how people actually work.
