New PyPI Package Connects Mumble Chat to EVE Online Auth
If you run a Mumble server for an EVE Online gaming community, you've probably wrestled with authentication—syncing your voice chat with your game identity shouldn't be this painful. The new eveo7-mumble-authenticator package solves that by bridging your Mumble (Murmur) server directly to an Alliance Auth setup with a MariaDB backend, so your members actually stay in sync across both systems.
What makes this useful is the extras it packs in. You get optional guest access through EVE Online temporary links, automatic EVE portrait textures pulled right into voice chat, and Prometheus metrics so you can monitor what's happening on your infrastructure. The self-healing features mean you don't wake up to a completely dead authentication layer.
The package just landed on PyPI, so if you're managing voice infrastructure for an EVE community, it's worth pulling down and testing. The Russian README suggests there's already some real-world usage happening, which usually means the core functionality actually works instead of being a weekend project that never got touched again.
